New Guinea Highlands Coffee Exports (NGHCE) began its operations in July 1992. It was not until January 1996 that the Neumann Gruppe became involved with the company. From its humble beginnings, NGHCE has now become one of PNG's major exporters and known as a reliable quality shipper.
Our staff is made up of highly skilled, motivated and experienced professionals within the PNG coffee industry. This allows us to meet the widest range of customer needs.
We work accordingly to our philosophy that the customer's needs have to be met in the most efficient manner and that attention to detail is paramount in complying with quality standards set by our customers.
As with other Neumann Kaffee Gruppe companies, NGHCE operates as its own profit centre. This allows us to make our own trading decisions, but also have the benefits that are obtained by being a member of the leading green coffee service group in the world.
Our trading desk is connected to the Reuters service which provides us with real time information and we work with the group's commission house, TRX Futures. This enables us to have immediate terminal transactions and the possibility to pass on to our customers the most up to date statistical information.
The quality control department stringently checks all coffees received and exported. All coffees, once in our system, are cupped with out-turns taken.
Our attention to detail guarantees our buyers a perfect final product.
NGHCE is able to offer its customers access to Plantation, Y grade, PSC X, Robusta and T grade type coffees year round to our buying agencies in Mt. Hagen, Goroka and Lae and our direct access to Airport Coffee Mill in Goroka.
Airport Coffee Mill in Goroka is seen as the most technically advanced and efficient mill within PNG and has come into operation in early 1999. The mill processes parchment coffee on behalf of our suppliers. This allows us to mill our suppliers' coffees to a premium quality which is passed on to our final buyers.
The company's traffic department co-ordinates the dispatching of coffees to our main export port of Lae, the scheduling and booking of vessels on behalf of the client, creation of documents, clearing of documents with the various regulatory bodies and the efficient forwarding of documents to the customer. Great attention to detail and efficiency are adhered to within this department.
Since 1999, we are able to bulk load coffee. This is done at the seaport of Lae with our clearing agents and an independent automated facility.
